If you only read the site, no account is created and no analytics or advertising trackers run. The site sets no cookies until you sign in.
If you create an account, your name, email address and a password are stored. The password is never stored as you typed it — only a bcrypt hash, which cannot be reversed back into your password.
If you use the account features, the site records which classes and writings you have saved, and how far through a class you have listened, so it can offer them back to you.
If you join the mailing list, your email address is stored for that purpose and no other.
One cookie is used: the sign-in session cookie, which keeps you logged in. It is strictly necessary for the account area to work and is removed when you sign out. There are no advertising, analytics or cross-site tracking cookies on this site.
YouTube.Classes are hosted on YouTube. Videos are not loaded until you press play, and they are embedded through youtube-nocookie.com, so YouTube does not set its cookies on you for simply visiting a page. Video thumbnails are served from Google’s image servers, which means Google can see the request for the image. Once you press play, YouTube’s own privacy policy applies.
Typefaces. Fonts are served from this site, not from Google Fonts, so visiting a page makes no request to a font provider.
Jewish calendar.Festival dates come from Hebcal. That request is made by this site’s own server, on its own behalf — your browser never contacts them and no information about you is sent.
Your information is not sold, rented, traded, or handed to advertisers or data brokers. There is no profiling and no automated decision-making.
Account information is kept for as long as the account exists. Mailing-list addresses are kept until you ask to be removed. Ask, and it is deleted.
You can ask to see what is held about you, to have it corrected, or to have your account and every record tied to it deleted. Write to hello@chanaginsburg.com and it will be done. Depending on where you live you may also have rights under laws such as the GDPR or the CCPA; those rights are honoured regardless of where you are.
This site is intended for adult learners. Accounts are not knowingly created for children under 13.
If this policy changes, the date at the top of the page changes with it.
