The Month of Adar

'When Adar enters, we increase in joy.' Adar is the month of Purim — of the hidden face of G-d in nature, of miracles disguised as chance, and of a joy that breaks past every limit.
The Month of Adar
Adar is the month of Purim, and our sages teach 'Mishenichnas Adar marbin b'simcha' — when Adar enters, we increase in joy. The miracle of Purim was hidden inside the natural course of events: G-d's name does not appear in the Megillah, and the salvation came dressed as palace intrigue and coincidence. This is the secret of Adar — to recognize the Divine hand hidden within nature, and to draw from it a joy that transcends reason, the joy of 'ad d'lo yada.' The avodah of the month is to uncover the hidden good and to serve G-d with boundless simcha.
